Zambia 2013, Day 6 - En Route to Livingston
June 30, 2013. Today we did a lot of sitting and eating on our bus ride from Lusaka to Livingstone. We stopped in Monze where we will be spending three days after Livingstone. Having been here four years ago it was a little surreal to be back at the Moorings campsite again and remember all the fun times I had there. It’s been fun to come back and see how much has changed in Zambia and at the same time how much has stayed the same. While looking outside during our six-hour bus ride I was reminded how beautiful the countryside of Zambia is and became nostalgic, while being excited for the rest of our trip. We arrived in Livingstone in time to eat dinner at a beautiful restaurant on the Zambezi River. I had told the rest of the group that I remembered there being monkeys in the trees above us and as we arrived, D’Jhane spotted one in the trees. We’re looking forward to returning to the restaurant tomorrow for lunch where we can see them more clearly. And, of course, hope to see many more animals in the afternoon on our safari. Despite the long ride, everyone is in good spirits and is especially excited for Victoria Falls in the morning. I am especially excited to walk down to the bottom of the falls, as I did not do that last time. More to come from our Livingstone adventure tomorrow!
