Jamaica 2015, Day 5 - Lesson Plans

Sunday, June 28, 2015 – Today we wrote out our lesson plans for the Hermitage Basic School where we will be teaching the 3-6 year olds. We all had to act out our lesson plans in front of each other and were tasked with taking notes on each other’s presentations (pros and cons). We all received feedback from the group; and with the feedback we were asked to write out a complete lesson plan. Afterwards, we went to the National Gallery and viewed some very powerful art pieces. Once we got back home we had our nightly reflection. We all had to journal about a prompt that was given by Malik which was: “If I’m always looking out for someone else who is looking out for me?” My response to this was that if you are in a group full of leaders no one will be left behind. From the reflection tonight I learned that even though selflessness is important you should always advocate for yourself as well because no one can look out for you better than yourself. You can look after yourself as well as the other people around you.
