Idah: “I would love others to also experience what I experienced.

Idah is a student based in Lusaka, Zambia and a participant in LearnServe Global Zambia 2026

The Global Zambia experience was one of the most memorable and wonderful experiences I have had so far in my life.

First Impressions

It started with meeting our fellow Incubators at the airport. Truth be told I was not sure if I would even make any friends, but the joy that came with seeing people who were very friendly made me want to befriend all of them.

The first friend I made from my fellow Incubators from the United States is Lidya. We chatted on the very first day as if we knew each other for a long time.

My first day with my fellow United States Incubators taught me that I just needed to be me to get along with everyone.

After some days I was already getting out of my comfort zone and interacting with friends; Niya, Sara, Selam, Lidya, Roza and many others more.

Visiting Chikumbuso

Secondly, I also loved visiting Chikumbuso and learning a great deal about how other people live. I also got to explain to a couple of my friends from the US how to cook nshima.

“Some people say that if they had a chance to relive a moment they would because of how nice the experience was. But as for me I wouldn’t relive the experience I had with Global Zambia. This is not because I did not love the experience but because I would also love others to also experience what I experienced.”

Visiting Livingstone

Thirdly, visiting Livingstone was one of the amazing experiences Global Zambia offered. The journey to Livingstone was filled with laughter.

The second day in Livingstone we first visited a forest reserve where we met Uncle Ben. He taught me and everyone a great deal on how deforestation affects our environment.  After that we went to the safari and it was very nice to see wild animals such as giraffes, rhinos and elephants.

During our final day in Livingstone I finally saw the mighty Victoria Falls. Everyone was so excited to see it and it was a dream come true for me.

Some people say if they had a chance to relive a moment they would because of how nice the experience was. But as for me I wouldn't relive the experience I had with Global Zambia.

This is not because I did not love the experience but because I would also love others to also experience what I experienced.

Thank You!

Behind every well set program there is always people who work hard so that everything goes smoothly.

For this reason I would like to thank Latrina, Mahlet, Mr Japhet, Mr Kapigula, Uncle Patrick, Mr Chama, Madam Joyce, Madam Christine, Nathan and the rest of the crew for making sure everyone was safe and actively participating.

Lastly, I greatly appreciate the LearnServe program and Njira for helping me develop public speaking skills, communication skills and good leadership skills.

Thank you soo much Global Zambia for giving me a once in a lifetime experience.
