Khloe: “A Global Solution to the Climate Crisis”

Khloe, from Washington DC, shared the following reflections on Zambia’s geographic and climate challenges, inspired by her experiences as a participant in LearnServe Global Zambia 2026

The Importance of Climate Consciousness

The most unforgettable part of my trip was seeing the beautiful landscape and national parks of Zambia. One of the most important parts of any country is its landscape, the topography, the climate and its many different species. When we went to locations like the national parks, I was able to see a vast difference in the environment between the Northern and Southern hemisphere, and see how being below the equator can equate to changes in temperature and which animals reside there.

The environment is just as large of a social issue as other areas. Climate Change is wracking the world. Being able to go to a different country really helped me to understand the importance of climate consciousness and how it is handled in different areas.

This had me asking questions to myself: How can a global solution be pushed throughout the world that answers the climate needs of the world, to protect and conserve humans, animal and plant life on Earth. This program has pushed me to think of a college and career pertaining to the environment, as it showed me how it is a global issue, but manifests itself in different ways. The beautiful landscapes of the world deserve to stay fruitful and preserved for generations to come, and I believe that this must start with vast exploration and understanding of the climate issue in different areas.

“How can a global solution be pushed throughout the world that answers the climate needs of the world, to protect and conserve humans, animal and plant life on Earth?”
