Global Zambia: An Unforgettable Journey of Friendship, Adventure, and Growth
Some experiences leave you with beautiful memories, new friendships, and lessons that stay with you long after they are over. For me, Global Zambia was one of those experiences. It was more than just an opportunity to have fun and meet new people; it was a journey of learning, exploring, building connections, and discovering new things about myself.
The Beginning: Meeting New People
One of the most exciting parts of Global Zambia was getting to meet friends from the United States. Having the opportunity to interact with people from a different country allowed me to learn about different perspectives, share experiences, and create memories with people I had never met before.
Among the people I met was Sara, who became one of the most memorable parts of my experience. At first, we were both shy, and getting to know each other took a little time. However, on the third day, we went to watch a movie together. Afterwards, we had a conversation that really stood out to me.
I was amazed by how much knowledge Sara had about financial issues. Listening to her thoughts and ideas opened my mind to new perspectives and reminded me that we can learn so much from the people around us. What started as a simple conversation became one of the highlights of my experience.
Beyond Sara, I enjoyed meeting many other amazing people, sharing laughter, enjoying the food, and simply being part of an environment where everyone could connect and have fun.
“If there is one thing I will take away from Global Zambia, it is that some of the greatest lessons in life come from the people we meet and the experiences we choose to embrace.”
Three Days in Livingstone: Adventure Awaits!
One of the biggest highlights of Global Zambia was our three-day trip to Livingstone. The journey itself was an adventure, filled with excitement, anticipation, and opportunities to bond with one another.
Of course, not everything went perfectly. But we still managed to make meaningful memories and learn from the experience.
Day One: Exploring the Forest
Our first activity involved visiting a forest, where we learned about the causes and effects of deforestation. Seeing the effects of people cutting down important trees made the issue feel much more real to me.
It reminded me that protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility. Learning outside the classroom made the lesson much more meaningful because we could actually see some of the things we had been discussing.
Day Two: The Safari Experience
The second day took us on a safari. It was another opportunity to explore Zambia's natural beauty and experience something completely different from our normal routine.
Being surrounded by nature, travelling with friends, and experiencing something new made the day one I will remember for a long time.
Day Three: Victoria Falls — Facing My Fears
Then came the moment I had been waiting for: Victoria Falls.
The beauty of the water and the incredible heights were breathtaking. I absolutely loved seeing the Falls, although I have to admit that I was a little scared at times!
Thankfully, Sara helped me through it. Her encouragement made it easier for me to face my fear and enjoy the moment instead of letting the fear take over.
That experience reminded me that stepping outside your comfort zone can be scary, but having someone beside you can make a huge difference.
More Than Just Fun
Looking back, Global Zambia taught me more than I expected. I gained new knowledge, explored unfamiliar places, and developed a greater appreciation for leadership, teamwork, communication, and working with people from different backgrounds.
I learned that leadership isn't simply about being the person in charge. It is also about listening, supporting others, communicating, taking responsibility, and being willing to learn.
I also learned that personal growth can happen when we allow ourselves to experience new things and connect with people whose experiences are different from ours.

The People Behind the Experience
Of course, none of these memories would have been possible without the people who organised and supported the programme.
A huge thank-you goes to Latrina, Mr. Chulu, Mr. Kapingula, Uncle Patrick, Madame Joyce, Madame Christine, Nathan, Chama, Queads, and the entire crew who worked behind the scenes to make Global Zambia such a memorable experience.
Sometimes we focus so much on what we experienced that we forget about the people who made those experiences possible. From organising activities and trips to making sure everyone was included and having a good time, their efforts helped create an environment where we could learn, connect, and enjoy ourselves.
I am genuinely grateful for the time, effort, and energy they put into the programme.
And, of course, a special shout-out to Sara, Niya, Lydia — my namesake — Nathan, and all the other amazing people I met along the way. Each person added something different to my experience, and I am grateful for the friendships and memories we created.
Final Thoughts
If there is one thing I will take away from Global Zambia, it is that some of the greatest lessons in life come from the people we meet and the experiences we choose to embrace.
From meeting friends from the United States, having meaningful conversations, enjoying good food, exploring the forest, going on a safari, and standing in awe of Victoria Falls, every moment gave me something to remember.
Global Zambia helped me step outside my comfort zone, appreciate different perspectives, build friendships, and discover new skills and leadership qualities.
It was a journey filled with friendship, adventure, learning, laughter, and growth.
And although the programme came to an end, the memories and lessons I gained from it will stay with me.
Thank you, Global Zambia, for an unforgettable experience. Until the next adventure!
